Welcome To NZAPSI
The NZAPSI was formed in February 2003 under the Chairmanship of Dr.P.S. Chari, Ex-Professor & Head, Dept. of Plastic Surgery PGIMER, Chandigarh. The aim of NZAPSI is to bring out the talent of each plastic surgeon of North India to the forefront. The North Zone Chapter includes the states of Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, Harayana and Chandigarh. In 2009 the General body has endorsed the inclusion of Uttrakhand as a part of North Chapter.

Professor C. Balakrishnan

Date of Birth:       1st April 1918
Date of Demise: 12th December 1997
Place of Birth:       Kerala
Journey through life:   Primary Education from Pal Ghat (Palakad)  
                                       B.Sc. Physics from Madras Presidency College
                                       Complete Medical Education from Madas Medical College in 1941
Joined the Indian Army Medical Corps and served on the Eastern Front in Burma, Malaya, Singapore on an emergency war commission as a Parachutist.
After the War, he was sent to the United Kingdom for higher studies from 1947 to 1949.
He became FRCS (London)
As A Teacher: He developed the first Department of PLastic SUrgery in India at Nagpur Medical College in 1950.
                          He started the Department of Plastic Surgery in PGIMER, Chandigarh in 1966 and retired as Professor and Head on 1st April 1980.
Married to Dr. P K Devi, who was the Professor and Head of Department of Obstetrics & Gynaecology at PGIMER, Chandigarh.

                          Dr. T. M. Nair Medal
                          Ramachandra Naidu Medal
                          Johnstone Gold Medal (Best outgoing student of MBS)
His persistent efforts with pateince and perseverence lead to the starting of SUperspeciality Courses in Plastic Surgery in India.
He believed the poor of the country need plastic surgery services, hence did not devel in cosmetic surgery.

He was the man popularly known as CBK.
